Whenever most people think of Scotland, one of the first things they think of is kilt, which has been and always will be one of the most important pieces of fashion in Scotland. Although kilts can be worn by women as well, it’s mainly men who sport kilts.

Of course, celebrities are usually very fashion forward. Therefore, it’s no surprise it’s not completely absurd that many celebrities have taken a liking to them and led to them being very popular among celebrities.

Perhaps one of the most well known celebrities that proudly sports a kilt is Sean Connery. This is a man that has been referred to as one of the most handsome men in the world, so when Sean Connery puts on a kilt, there’s no doubt that the rest of the world will pay attention.

Connery is an Academy Award winning actor that has surprisingly been a fan of kilts for most of his life.

Sean Connery isn’t the only one who wears kilts. James McAvoy, Gerald Butler, and Ewan McGregor sometimes wear a kilt. Kyle McLachlan, who many saw sporting a kilt as Tray on “Sex and the City”, also wears one in his personal life. He’s such a large fan of them he supported the “Dressed to Kilt Charity Fashion Show”, which raised funds for Wounded Warrior Project.

Kilts are one of the most famous pieces of Scottish culture, and it doesn’t look as though they will be forgotten anytime soon.

1. Sean Connery – most fabulous and famous of all! Scottish actor and producer, best known for portraying the character James Bond in cinema, starring in seven Bond films between 1962 and 1983. In 1988, Connnery won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in ‘The Untouchables’, laureate of Golden Globe, and BAFTA Award.

2. Ewan McGregor – Scottish actor, singer, and adventurer who has had success in mainstream, indie and art house films. He is perhaps best known for his role as Mark Renton in the 1996 film ‘Trainspotting’, his portrayal of the young Obi-Wan Kenobi in the ‘Star Wars’ prequel trilogy, and his role as the romantic penniless writer Christian in the 2001 film ‘Moulin Rouge’!

3. James McAvoy – Scottish stage and screen actor known for his roles in ‘Atonement’, ‘The Last King of Scotland’,'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’, ‘Wanted’, Frank Herbert’s ‘Children of Dune’, and the British TV series’ Shameless’ and ‘Early Doors’.

4. Billy Boyd – Scottish actor and musician most widely known for playing the character Peregrin “Pippin” Took in the film adaptations of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ and Barrett Bonden in ‘Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World’.
