Hi there,

I found this online by chance and think it's a good article.

From my experiences from playing in a wedding band I would say the vast majority of couples go for cover bands and a lot can play ceilidh music too but in this day and age you could just whack it onto an ipod and play it through the p.a.

I would also say that the time spent researching bands varies quite a lot, some will pick the first band they see and agree to any price and others will go and see lots of bands looking for a decent price and a good quality.

The most important thing I would say is to go and see bands at pubs and clubs near where you live because most wedding bands play these 'normal' gigs aswell and I think wedding bands who don't play in pubs are missing out on meeting a lot of potential new customers.

I just got married at Airth Castle on June 13th. It was an absolutely perfect event. My wife is American, so we had around 50 guests who had travelled from the States. THey enjoyed every second. One part of the day which really stood out was the ceilidh band. They were wonderful. Never before have I attended a wedding where every single guest was up for every dance. The dancefloor was packed right through to past midnight and I credit the band for that.

I would highly recommend a ceilidh for a couple of hours of your wedding. It really made the night for everyone who attended.

Hi, I am currently planning my wedding and am considering a place I found online; my wife spent much of her youth on the West Coast of Scotland and this look perfect.

Before I head up there; has anybody been to a wedding there?

Thanks for any advice, J
